BBMA Hornsby (ABN 19 618 551 081) (we, us or our) is committed to keeping you safe.
Protecting the privacy, safety and wellbeing of our students
At BBMA Hornsby, every student has the right to feel safe and comfortable while training.
We understand that parents and family members enjoy capturing special moments in their children's karate journey.
We also recognise that some families do not wish to have their children photographed or filmed.
To respect everyone's privacy and help keep our students safe, the following rules apply to all students, parents, carers, family members, visitors, staff and contractors while on BBMA Hornsby premises.
1. Photography and filming during classes and other authorised BBMA events
Parents and family members may photograph or film their own children only with permission from BBMA Hornsby and in accordance with our photography rules.
Photographing, filming or livestreaming group classes, training sessions or other children's activities requires prior permission from BBMA Hornsby.
Permission to photograph your own child does not extend to deliberately photographing or filming another person's child.
2. Photographing other children
Photographing or filming another person's child requires prior permission from BBMA Hornsby and the child's parent or carer.
Where appropriate, the child's own wishes must also be respected.
Please take care to avoid capturing other children in the background when photographing or filming your own child.
If another child is identifiable in your photograph or video and their parent or carer has not given permission, please do not share or publish the image.
3. Mobile phones, smart glasses and recording devices
Mobile phones may be brought into BBMA Hornsby and used for ordinary purposes, such as calls and messages, in designated reception and spectator areas.
All photography and recording restrictions apply equally to mobile phones, cameras, tablets, smart glasses, smartwatches, body cameras and any other device capable of capturing photographs, video or audio.
Recording-capable smart glasses and other wearable cameras must not be worn in children's training areas unless expressly authorised by BBMA Hornsby.
Devices must not be used to photograph, film, livestream or audio-record children without appropriate permission.
4. Bathrooms, toilets and changing areas
Mobile phones, cameras, smart glasses and all other recording-capable devices must NOT be taken into bathrooms, toilets or changing areas at BBMA Hornsby.
This rule applies to everyone, including students, parents, visitors and staff.
Photography, video recording, audio recording and livestreaming are strictly prohibited in these areas at all times.
Anyone who needs to use a bathroom or changing area must leave their phone or recording-capable device outside, in a secure location.
A reasonable accommodation may be arranged in advance with BBMA management where a device is required for disability access, medical monitoring or another essential purpose, provided that children's privacy and safety are protected.
5. Sharing photographs and videos
Photographs or videos containing other identifiable children must not be published or shared without appropriate permission from their parents or carers.
This includes sharing images or videos on social media, websites, messaging groups or other online platforms.
Permission to take a photograph does not automatically include permission to publish or distribute it.
6. Respecting children's privacy
Children have the right to tell an adult if they feel uncomfortable being photographed or filmed.
If a child, parent or BBMA Hornsby staff member asks you to stop recording, you must stop immediately.
Where a concern is raised about a photograph or recording, BBMA Hornsby may ask the person responsible to explain what was recorded and request the deletion of unauthorised images or footage where appropriate.
7. Photography by BBMA Hornsby
BBMA Hornsby may photograph or film students for authorised teaching, assessment, events or promotional purposes, subject to appropriate consent and safeguarding arrangements.
We respect the photography preferences of our students and their families.
Parents and carers may contact BBMA Hornsby to review or withdraw their child's photography permissions.
8. Failure to follow this policy
Anyone who does not comply with our photography and recording rules may be asked to stop recording or leave the premises.
Serious or repeated breaches may result in restrictions on attendance or further action in accordance with BBMA Hornsby's child-safety procedures.
Where necessary, concerns may be referred to the appropriate authorities.
